Guards! Seize them!

The guards of Overmore Castle are slightly heavier than the typical soldiery found in Norland as they wear steel cuirassiers over a padded harness and an early form of morion helmets (rather than the popular kettle helmets). This is mostly due to the fact that they are frontier troops and are constantly in conflict with outlaws, pirates and bandits. The Castle employs several dozen guards, at least eight of whom are classed as cavalry with extra armour (steel vambraces and tassets) and expensive courser horses. They employ a variety of weapons such as pikes, spears and crossbows depending on circumstances.

These guards are not the only representatives of the law in the region but they do hold the Earls authority which grants them power over all other local militia and there are usually some to be found in each village. Some of the other local land owners also maintain armed guards but these do not have the full authority of the Earl. Since most of the Overmore guards come from local villages anyway, their presence causes no serious problems and in light of the many bandits in the lands surrounding Morden Forest and the Salten Reach, the villagers are usually glad to have them around.

Despite its location Overmore Castle has no naval units.
